Melbourne’s APM Group is the preferred builder for the contract for Chirnside Park Aged Care Facility, valued at $37m in total. The facility is being developed by McMullin.

The project will see a new facility built to bed 144 residents across three levels of accommodation at 238 Maroondah Highway, Chirnside Park. 

The new high-quality facility will include amenities with the following; two passenger lifts, a cinema, cafe, bar, activity room, multiple sitting areas, private dining spaces, a commercial kitchen, laundry and a staff room.

The facility will be made from brick, metal cladding and glazed facades and will include DDA compliant access.

The team’s experience in aged care developments has extended to independent living units, low and high care facilities as well as respite care.

2020 has proven a trying year for the aged care sector with a greater need for improved facilities across the state. 

In a competitive tender process, ADCO, Hutchinson Group, Buxton and SJ Higgins all applied for this project. 

APM Group has provided space for over 600 beds across seven separate projects in the past seven years. These projects include; 

  • Benetas Aged Care facility in Frankston, valued at $15m – a 14-month project comprising a three-storey building to fit 80 beds and commercial, aged care facilities.
  • Southern Cross Care in Dandenong, is a two-year project which included demolishing and reconstructing the Cardinal Knox Village to house 52 residents.
