The Inception:

McMullin’s involvement in the Chirnside Views project began in 2016, stemming from a strategic opportunity to partner with the Willoughby family for an aged care development on a prime McMullin site in Chirnside Park. McMullin’s partnership with the Willoughby family, which began in the 1990s, has flourished over decades, leading to significant projects like Park Lane Croydon, Willowbrae in Templestowe and now, the magnificent Chirnside Views.

McMullin’s Role:

Operating as both the Aged Care Financier, Developer and Project Manager, McMullin’s expertise was instrumental from inception to completion. The team’s extensive experience in the aged care sector, encompassing everything from independent living units to comprehensive care facilities, was pivotal in the project’s development and ultimate success.

Major Challenge:

The project faced considerable challenges due to the design, tendering and construction periods coinciding with the COVID-19 pandemic. The notable challenges were associated with the bulk of design and tendering being done via Zoom communication as well as supply chain disruptions, government imposed labour restrictions and labour shortages during the construction period impacting the construction program.

Solution:

McMullin’s proactive management approach was crucial in navigating these challenges. The team closely monitored the builder’s progress and evaluated risks associated with construction delays. Through effective communication and strategic planning, McMullin informed the client about progress, ensuring transparency throughout the process.

Significant Achievement:

A significant achievement of this project was successfully welcoming the first residents in May 2023 amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic. This milestone not only marked the completion of the project but also underscored McMullin’s resilience and commitment to delivering high-quality aged care facilities.
